Grief Out Loud Podcast: Splintering Grief — DJ Arsene Versailles & Marked by COVID

In Episode 221 of Grief Out Loud, the podcast of the Dougy Center (The National Grief Center for Children & Families), DJ Arsene Versailles shared his experience of losing his mother, Florcie Yves Versailles, to COVID-19 in May 2020. DJ described his grief as "lingering, shivering, simmering, splintering," and spoke about the layers of loss specific to being a Black family navigating a pandemic that has become far more than a medical diagnosis. Inspired by his mother's commitment to social justice, DJ connected with Marked by COVID and became involved in the organization's campaign to establish a COVID Memorial Day.
